These women paved the way for me to have this power and I believe this power comes with responsibility. As female artists, we have the responsibility to create and to portray our truths. We need to be uncensored and unapologetic. We need to expose our psyches, fears and desires. We need to have the courage to release our work into the world because despite the leaps and bounds that women have made over the last half-century, we are still living in a male-dominated culture. There is more work to do before the playing field is level.”
